Happy FALLAS WEEK 🧨🎇🎆
For anyone who’s never experienced it, Fallas is one of the biggest and most iconic celebrations in Valencia, Spain. The streets are full of music, fireworks, parades, and these incredible sculptures called fallas that are eventually burned at the end of the festival.
So I talk a little about it and the tradition it brings to my personal expatriation experiences at the beginning of the episode.
And if you’d prefer to jump straight into the episode topic, you can skip ahead to minute 6:45.
In this episode, I explore the identity shift that can happen when you move abroad and why even highly self-aware, confident women can suddenly find themselves second-guessing their voice, decisions, and place in the world.
We discuss:
• Why confidence is often built within familiar cultural and social environments
• How moving abroad can temporarily destabilize your sense of self
• Why self-aware women tend to notice this shift more deeply
• The identity gap between who you were back home and who you’re becoming abroad
• How confidence is rebuilt through identity integration over time
Moving abroad doesn’t just change where you live — it changes who you are becoming.
